Gazebo Bird Feeders
A gazebo is one of the more popular structures you'll find in America. Usually 8 sided, they have found use over the years in a variety of landscapes, but you can often find them in city parks and gardens.
But you'll also gazebos in backyards in all parts of the country as well. They create a tranquil space for a getaway, offering a small measure of solitude. For those without the space or money for a full size gazebo, these miniature bird feeders are a great addition to any yard.
Feed these birds with your gazebo feeder:The varieties of birds you can feed varies with the individual feeder. As a rule of thumb here are some different types of bird feed and the birds they attact:
Safflower seed - chickadees, finches, grosbeaks, titmice, nuthatches, cardinals,
Black-oil sunflower seed - titmice, redpolls, chickadees, pine siskins, woodpeckers, nuthatches,
Mixed seed - thrashers, cardinals, juncos, woodpeckers, chickadees, nuthatches, goldfinches, white crowned sparrows, jays, doves, purple finches, titmice, Carolina wrens, white-throated sparrows,
In real life gazebos are often freestanding, but you can find designs where that are part of a wall. Gazebos usually have open sides that allow free air flow, but have roofs to provide an ample shaded area and protection from rain as well.
Gazebos show up in many historical settings over the history. You find them in Colonial times (Washington's Mount Vernon estate is a great example) but they go back further in time and can be found as far away as China and Persia.
Enjoy putting up a gazebo feeder, and create your own backyard retreat!
