Bird Feeders

A bird feeder is one of the things almost everyone eventually puts in their yard, or even on a balcony or patio. It can be a simple feeder, something like a tube feeder that does a great job of attracting birds.

The type of feeder you choose may depend on the type of birds you are trying to attract. Platform feeders work well for ground feeding birds. Something simple like a bird seed sock can feed thistle to finches. Suet feeders handle a variety of birds, especially in the harsh winter months.

Unfortunately a popular need is a squirrel proof (or more accurately a squirrel resistant) bird feeder. These come in a range of costs, from a simple caged feeder, to the motorized feeders designed to spin the offending squirrel away from the feeder.

Others decorative feeders capture a sense of the traditional or a formal setting. Examples of these might include gazebo feeder or even something as grand as a Victorian mansion.

For a feeder that is decorative but still has simple esthetics, a copper bird feeder can make an attractive additon. Different than the traditional wooden feeders, they will age gracefully yet make a stunning visual impact on your yard.

Then other end of the spectrum can be those fashioned from resins. A resin feeder can be shaped and painted to take on almost any characteristic, one of the more popular types is the shaped like faces of character or animals.

Make a decorative feeder a focal point of your landscape. The sight of not only the feeder itself, but the activity around a feeder can be a conversation starter, and simple but effective way to enjoy that small retreat that is your backyard.
